The Presidency of Donald Trump has just begun, but impeachment discussions began long before he was ever elected.
Now several commentators and organizations are calling for Trump’s immediate impeachment. In fact, in a recent poll conducted less than 2 weeks into Donald Trump’s tenure as President, 40% of voters said they are ready to impeach him – up from 35% of voters who wanted to impeach him a week earlier. Only 48% of voters say that they would be opposed to Trump’s impeachment.
More than 800,000 individuals have signed an online petition calling for the impeachment of Donald J. Trump
Here’s what they are saying:
Former White House counsel John Dean, who served President Nixon from 1970 to 1973, told The Atlantic magazine: “I don’t think Richard Nixon even comes close to the level of corruption we already know about Trump.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said in an interview that he expected Trump to head down the impeachment path. “But I would say if you were taking odds, this president appears to be on a course in which he is going to be engaged in a lot of impeachable activities,” Raskin said.
